This Week’s Challenge: Share the Gift of Good Nutrition

This week’s challenge is all about bringing loved ones together through good nutrition. A study in the American Journal of Public Health confirms, “It may not simply be that ‘you are what you eat.’ It may be that ‘you are what people in your social network eat’ as well.” If you want to improve your own nutrition, start with the people around you. Here’s how an Herbalife Nutrition volunteer inspired Oz to improve his nutrition… and change his life!
Casa Herbalife Spotlight: Oz
Many of the children at Lily Mission Center have only ever had access to sugary snacks. Oz is one of these children. When Oz came to Lily Mission Center last fall, he would always bring his own “dinner”—a candy bar and chips. The staff quickly realized that he had never tried most fruits or vegetables before. Then, during the Christmas celebration, an Herbalife Nutrition volunteer brought some sample healthy snacks for the kids to try. With some encouragement, she got Oz to try a protein bar… and he loved it!
This one moment sparked his interest in exploring new foods. Now he prefers to eat the dinner served at Lily Mission Center. Today, Oz continues to make great strides in his nutrition. Not only is he eating healthier, he’s also learning cooking skills and creating his own cookbooks with healthy recipes.
Oz’s story illustrates not just the power of good nutrition… but the power of trusting relationships. Studies show that higher levels of social support are associated with greater success in achieving and maintaining goals, such as healthier eating and weight loss. By building a personal connection and trust with Oz, that Herbalife volunteer changed his nutrition… and his future!
Healthy You. Healthy Kids.
As a member of the Herbalife community, you value good nutrition and you know how important it is to every area of your life. For kids in need, proper nutrition is of paramount importance. Undernourishment poses a serious disadvantage for children in the U.S and around the world. Kids struggling to get enough to eat are more likely to have problems in school and experience developmental impairments in areas like language and motor skills.
That’s why through our Casa Herbalife programs, we provide grants to 140 orphanages, hospitals, schools, and organizations in 50 countries to provide healthy meals and nutrition education to 100,000 children around the world. Find out how you can support our Casa Herbalife programs here.
